
Minnesota Recalls Justin Falk, Iowa Releases Richard

DES MOINES, IA - Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher on Tuesday announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has recalled defenseman Justin Falk from the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League (AHL). Iowa Wild General Manager Jim Mill announced on Tuesday announced the team has released defenseman Brad Richard from a professional tryout agreement (PTO). Mill also announced goalie Parker Milner was signed to a PTO on Tuesday morning and released this afternoon.
Falk, 26, has averaged 9:21 in time on ice in nine contests with Minnesota this season and recorded four points (1-34) and 26 penalty minutes (PIM) in 21 games with Iowa. The 6-foot-5, 222-pound native of Snowflake, Man., has totaled 17 points (1-1617) and 125 PIM in 138 career NHL games with Minnesota and the New York Rangers. He was originally selected by the Wild in the fourth round (110th overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft and signed as a free agent with Minnesota on Aug. 1.
Richard was scoreless in four games with Iowa, including his AHL debut at Chicago on Dec. 20. The New Bedford, MA native returns to the Alaska Aces, where he's played in 23 games for the Aces, Iowa's ECHL affiliate. At the time of his recall, we was among the team leaders for points by a defenseman with seven goals and 12 points for Alaska. The 5-10, 195-pounder spent his entire rookie season with the Aces, helping the team win the Kelly Cup in the spring of 2014. As a rookie, Richard set up 24 goals and totaled 30 points in 62 games played. From 2009-13, the 25-year old played at Hobart College. In 97 ECAC games, Richard scored 22 times and added 42 assists for 64 points.
Milner was added for practice in the morning and then released from his contract in order to return to the Quad City Mallards of the ECHL. He's played in 16 games for the Mallards, posting an 8-6-2 record with a 2.36 GAA and a .920 SV%. The second-year pro spent the majority of his rookie season with the ECHL's Stockton Thunder. He was 9-14-2 with a 2.84 GAA and a .907 SV%. He also made his American Hockey League debut with Bridgeport in 2013-14. In eight games with the Tigers, he was 4-2-0 with a 2.95 GAA and a .904 SV %. Parker played four years at Boston College from 2009-13. In 92 appearances for the Eagles, the Pittsburgh, PA native went 53-24-9 with a 2.10 GAA and a .912 SV %.
Iowa remains on the road with four straight games to start the New Year. After stops in Rochester, Utica, Texas and San Antonio from Jan. 2-11, the Wild returns home on Tuesday, Jan. 13 at 7 p.m. to face the Chicago Wolves. The team celebrates Taco Tuesdays against Chicago, presented by Taco John's. It's also a two-for-one Tuesday, where fans may purchase one (1) attack end ticket and receive a second ticket free, sponsored by Hits 99.9 FM. Also, those that bring a Subway receipt may purchase a ticket for $5. After a trip to Rockford on Friday, Jan. 16, Iowa returns home for a three-game home stand starting at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 17 with the Lake Erie Monsters. Iowa is holding a sport equipment drive in its first game with Lake Erie, sponsored by Scheels. For each item donated, the fan receives a ticket voucher for a future game. The drive benefits Courage League Sports. The first 1,000 fans receive an Iowa Wild Piggy Bank, presented by Mercy.
On Sunday, Jan. 18, the Wild and Monsters meet again at 3 p.m. Also on Sunday, the Wild celebrates Kids WinterFest, featuring Xbox Dance Revolution, face painting, balloon artists and a sign station, presented by Fast Signs. The first 1,500 youths to the game (12 and under) receives an Iowa Wild green youth jersey, presented by KDSM FOX 17 & Scheels. The team is also hosting its first ever Baby Derby, presented by Me & Mommy To Be. Fans will be able to watch the baby's crawl to see which is the fastest in central Iowa. Fans will also be able to purchase the Subway Combo Pack, presented by Subway and 104 More. The Subway Combo Pack includes one ticket, one hot dog, one soda and a Subway coupon, starting at just $12. The Wild also hosts a public skate after the game, presented Grip Tite. All fans are reminded to bring their skates.
The Iowa Wild 2014-15 season is presented by Mercy Medical Center, it runs from October through April. Fans may purchase seats to see any of the team's 38 regular season home games at Wells Fargo Arena. Season tickets to see the Wild play at Wells Fargo Arena start at just $9 per game.
