
Bears Sign Rome And Ferguson

HERSHEY - The 2009 Calder Cup Champion HERSHEY BEARS announced today the club has signed forward Ashton Rome and right wing Simon Ferguson to player tryout contracts. The announcement was made today by BEARS President/GM Doug Yingst.
Rome, 24, made his HERSHEY debut last weekend and scored two goals in three games, after signing his first tryout contract with the team. He has 17 goals and 36 points in 39 games played this season with Idaho (ECHL).
Ferguson, 26, comes to central PA after playing 42 games with Syracuse (AHL) this season, where he had six assists and 102 penalty minutes. He most recently had been with Utah (ECHL), scoring a goal and notching two points in five games. Ferguson enjoyed his best AHL season with Portland in 2005-06, scoring 13 goals and assisting on 25 others in 77 regular season games played. He also played against HERSHEY in the 2006 Eastern Conference Finals that year.

The BEARS open three home games in three nights Friday, taking on the Worcester Sharks at 7:00 p.m. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton is in Saturday at 7:00 p.m., with the Binghamton Senators coming to town Sunday at 5:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday's games are sold out.
