Binghamton Senators News Release

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The B-Sens hit the road for the last of ten meetings between their intra-division rival Rochester Americans Friday night, and happily ended it on a high note as they defeated the Amerks 4-3.

Josh Hennessy opened the scoring for the B-Sens in the first period, notching a power play goal at 7:48. Denis Hamel would add another power play goal, while Hennessy earned his second goal of the night to give the B-Sens a commanding 3-0 with just under five minutes remaining in the first. Ryan Keller would record two assists before the period was out (one on Hamel's power play goal, another on Hennessy's second goal).

However, at 17:52 of the opening stanza, Jordan Henry spoiled any chance of a shutout for B-Sens' starting net minder Mike Brodeur as he recorded his 13th of the season to narrow the scoring gap to 3-1.

Two quick Rochester goals tied the score up 3-3 in the first six minutes of the second period as David Brine hit the Binghamton net shorthanded at 3:35 and as Michal Repik recorded his 22nd goal of the year at 5:49. The goal was Repik's second point of the night as he assisted on Brine's goal.

With just 2:18 remaining in the second, B-Sens defenseman Derek Smith scored his 11th of the season on the power play to put Binghamton back in the lead 4-3. Hamel earned his second point of the night with an assist. Martin St. Pierre was also credited with an assist on Smith's tally, which would be the eventual game winner.

Brodeur ended the night stopping 32 of 35 shots faced against his former team.

The B-Sens have a rare Saturday off before making the trek to Hershey, P.A. to take on the East Division champion Bears at 5 p.m. Fans can listen live on 680 WINR-AM or 1430 WENE-AM beginning 30 minutes before game time for Countdown to Faceoff with Grady Whittenburg, the voice of the B-Sens.
