
Lamoureux Leads Pirates To Shutout Victory

Providence, RI - J.P. Lamouruex turned aside 17 shots for his second shutout of the season as the Portland Pirates blanked the Providence Bruins 2-0 in an American Hockey League game played tonight in front of 10,136 at the Dunkin Donuts Center.
Paul Byron and Mark Mancari supplied the offense for the Pirates, who improved to 40-22-6-4 with the win. The Pirates also extended their point streak with the victory to six games (4-0-1-1).
The two teams played through a scoreless first and second period. Byron finally broke the stalemate with 6:50 remaining in regulation followed by a five-on-three goal by Mancari with less than two minutes left in regulation for insurance.
The Pirates held the Bruins scoreless in their last three games at the Dunkin' Donuts Center, a span of 181:38 and have an overall shutout streak against the Bruins of 191:36.
The Bruins dropped to 33-35-4-1 on the season.
The Pirates out shot Providence 42-17 in the game.
The Allied Home Mortgage Three Stars of the Game were 1. Byron, 2. Bruins goaltender Danny Sabourin and 3. Lamoureux.
The Pirates return home for games tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday at the Cumberland County Civic Center.
Saturday when the Pirates face at the Springfield Falcons at 7 p.m. Chris Jensen will be inducted as the 13th member of the Pirates Hall of Fame, presented by Unum. The Hall of Fame was created to honor those individuals who have played a significant role in Pirates history.
Sunday the Pirates, the CCCC and their partners including NAPA Auto Parts, Beech Ridge Motor Speedway, Maine Indoor Karting, Northeast Mini Stock Tour, and NASCAR DAY 2010 present a Salute to Motorsports when the Hartford Wolf Pack visit for a 4 p.m. contest at the CCCC. You can win tickets to a NASCAR event in Loudon! Pirates will also honor High School State Champions from all sports. Brown Fox Printing presents a team photo giveaway and you can stick around after the game to get your photo signed by the players during a post game skate presented by Mercy Hospital and Weight Watchers.
