Wheeling Nailers News Release
Player Notes: Dany Sabourin is second in the ECHL in goals against average at 1.28 and save percentage at .956. He also tied for the league lead in wins with 10 and shutouts with three and leads the ECHL in shootout wins with three. Sabourin is also third in minutes with 750 and saves with 345. Ray DiLauro is among the leaders in defenseman scoring with nine points on one goal and eight assists. Jason Jaffray recorded the first hat trick of the season in the Nailers 3-1 win on Saturday in Toledo. Kenny Corupe's five points on Wednesday are the most by a Nailers player in a game this season.
Team Notes: The Nailers current six game win streak is the longest team win streak of the season and second longest current win streak in the ECHL. The Nailers seven home wins is tied for second most home wins in the ECHL. The Nailers have the second best home penalty kill in the league at 92.9 and seventh best overall penalty kill at 87.8. The Nailers 2.13 goals against per game is third best in the ECHL.
NAILERS WEEK IN REVIEW
Dayton 3 @ Wheeling 7
The Nailers equaled their season long win streak at four games with this win. It was also the most goals scored in a game this season and largest margin of victory. Dayton took a 1-0 lead in the game at 6:48 of the first period. Kenny Corupe tied the game 1-1 with a power play goal from Ray Dilauro and James Laux at 14:35. Corupe scored his second of the game at 3:14 of the second period to give the Nailers a 2-1 lead. T.J. Reynolds added a power play goal at 8:39 for a 3-1 lead. Tyler Kolarik got the Bombers back to within one goal at 3-2 at 14:58 of the second period. Chris MacKenzie scored his first goal as a Nailer at 16:14 to end the second period scoring. Laux scored at 4:20 of the third period to increase the Nailers lead to 5-2. Aaron Foster scored the final Bombers goal of the game at 8:40. Mark Kosick and Brendon Hodge each scored for the Nailers to end the scoring in the Nailers 7-3 win. Dany Sabourin made 23 saves on 26 for the win.
Friday, November 26
Trenton 2 @ Wheeling 3
Trenton scored the only goal of the first period to take a 1-0 lead. Matt Zultek scored the goal from Mathieu Brunelle and Evan Nielson at 19:10. The Titans increased their lead to 2-0 at 6:36 of the second period on a Stephen Wood power play goal. Chris MacKenzie scored the Nailers first goal of the game at 2:54 of the third period from Kenny Corupe and Alex Rouleau. Steve Crampton tied the game 2-2 with a goal at 8:43 from Brendon Hodge and MacKenzie. Ray DiLauro scored the game-winning goal at 4:30 of overtime to extend the Nailers win streak to a season high five games. James Laux and Hodge assisted on the winning goal. Dany Sabourin made 16 saves on 18 shots for the win.
Saturday, November 27
Wheeling 3 @ Toledo 1
For the fourth straight game the Nailers gave up the first goal of the game only to come back to win. Toledo scored at 2:49 of the first period to take a 1-0 lead, it would be their only goal of the game. Jason Jaffray scored his first goal of the game at 16:15 of the first period to tie the game 1-1. Chris MacKenzie and Ray DiLauro assisted on the goal. Jaffray gave the Nailers a 2-1 lead at 3:05 of the second period with an unassisted goal. Jaffray completed his hat trick at 19:38 of the third period with an empty net goal. Dany Sabourin made 29 saves on 30 shots for his 10th win of the season.

Thursday, December 2
Wheeling @ Dayton 7:00p.m.
The Nailers travel to Dayton for the third time this season. They are 1-1-0 in Dayton this season, 2-1-0 against the Bombers overall. The Nailers have outscored the Bombers 13-8 in the first three games played.
Friday, December 3
Wheeling @ Peoria 8:30p.m.
This will be the first trip to Peoria for the Nailers this season. The Nailers beat the Rivermen 1-0 in the only game played this year, at Wheeling on November 14.
Sunday, December 5
Wheeling @ Peoria 4:00p.m.
The Nailers play their second consecutive road game in Peoria to end the week's schedule. This will be the fourth of five consecutive road games for the Nailers.
Nailers Player of the Week:
The Nailers Player of the Week is Jason Jaffray. Jaffray had five points on three goals and two assists for the week. He had two assists against Dayton on Wednesday in a 7-3 win. Jaffray recorded the Nailers first hat trick of the season in the Nailers 3-1 win in Toledo on Sunday. He also played at a +5 for the week.
Nailers Goaltender of the Week:
The Nailers Goaltender of the Week is Dany Sabourin. Sabourin won three games last week for the Nailers to improve his record to 10-2-0 on the season. He made 23 saves in a 7-3 win against Dayton on Wednesday, 16 saves in a 3-2 overtime win against Trenton on Friday and 29 saves in a 3-1 win in Toledo on Sunday. He finished the week with a .919 save percentage and a 1.95 goals against average.
