ESTERO, FL - The Florida Everblades finished out this past week of action with a 1-2-0 record. The 'Blades enter this week's action with a record of 7-9-0 (14 pts., T-5th South Division).
THIS WEEK (All Times Eastern)
Tuesday, November 30 vs. Las Vegas Wranglers 7:30 p.m.
GAME NOTES: Everblades and Wranglers tangle for the second and final time this season. Florida leads the season series 1-0-0 after a 1-0 victory on home ice on Nov. 27. The shutout was Florida's first of the season. The Everblades lead the all-time season series 2-0-0, having also collected a 5-4 overtime win in Las Vegas on Nov. 4, 2003. The game on Tuesday is the final game of a six-game home stand for the Everblades, who have gone 2-3-0 so far. The Wranglers enter this week's action with a record of 9-6-1 (19pts., T-4th West Division).
Friday, December 3 @ South Carolina Stingrays 7:05 p.m.
GAME NOTES: The 'Blades and the Stingrays meet up for the first of five time this year and the first of three at the North Charleston Coliseum in Charleston, SC. Last season the Everblades held a 2-3-1 overall record vs. South Carolina, and were 2-1-0 in Charleston. Florida is 25-12-7 all-time vs. South Carolina. The game is the first of a four-game road trip for the 'Blades, who are 2-5-0 on the road this season. The 'Blades and Stingrays meet for a pair of games next weekend (Dec. 10&11) at Germain Arena, then close out the season series on Apr. 1 at South Carolina. The 'Rays enter this week's action with a record of 8-8-1 (17 pts., 3rd, East Division).
Saturday & Sunday, December 4 & 5 @ Pee Dee Pride 7:30 p.m. & 2:30 p.m.
GAME NOTES: Florida and Pee Dee meet up for the third and fourth times this season. Following this weekend's games, the two teams will face each other just once more this year on Jan. 6 at Pee Dee. Saturday is the first visit of the year by Florida to the Florence Civic Center in Florence, SC. The two teams met for a pair of game on Nov. 19&20 at Germain Arena. Florida is 1-1-0 vs. the Pride this season, losing 2-0 and winning 5-4 in a shootout in the first two games between the teams. The Everblades hold an all-time record of 23-19-5 vs. Pee Dee. The Pride enter this week's action with a record of 10-4-2 (22pts., 2nd, East Division).
LAST WEEK'S RESULTS
Wednesday, November 24 vs. Greenville 5-1 L The Everblades suffered their worst defeat on home ice this season with a 5-1 loss to the Greenville Grrrowl on Wednesday night. Greenville picked up a pair of goals in the first 3:11 of the game before Tom Reimann notched his first goal of the season for the 'Blades midway through the opening period. The Grrrowl extended its lead to 4-1 with another pair of goals at the end of the second period, then closed out the scoring with a goal midway through the third period. Rob Zepp started in goal for Florida and took the loss playing the first 40 minutes of the contest, allowing four goals on 19 shots, and Craig Kowalski finished out the game playing the final 20 minutes, allowing the one goal on six shots. Florida special teams: PP: 0-for-5, PK: 4-for-5.
Friday, November 26 vs. Greenville 3-2 L The Everblades dropped their second straight game to the Grrrowl on Friday night at Germain Arena with a 3-2 defeat. Greenville took advantage of their power play opportunities, scoring all three of their goals with the man advantage. After opening a 3-0 lead early in the second period, Florida made a come-back bid picking up goals by David Lumdbohm and Matt Hendricks in the second period. Despite out-shooting the Grrrowl 8-1 in the third period, the 'Blades couldn't find the tying goal. Craig Kowalski started in net for Florida and suffered the loss, allowing the three goals on 33 shots. The loss knocked his record to 3-4-0. Florida special teams: PP: 0-for-5, PK: 2-for-5.
Saturday, November 27 vs. Las Vegas 1-0 W Florida earned their first shutout of the season with a 1-0 performance over the Las Vegas Wranglers on Saturday night at Germain Arena. The Everblades scored just 54 seconds into the game when Brandon Coalter corralled a rebound and slipped it into the net for his first goal of the season. Defense and goaltending took over from there with 'Blades rookie net minder Craig Kowalski stopping all 22 shots he faced, including 11 in the third period, to earn the win and bring his record to 4-4-0. The shutout was the first of his professional career. Sebastien Centomo of Las Vegas stopped 27 of 28 shots he faced in suffering the tough-luck loss. The game saw just two minor penalties called, both against the Wranglers. The zero penalty minutes for Florida matched an all-time franchise record for fewest penalty minutes in a game. Florida special teams: PP: 0-for-2, PK: 0-for-0.

Weekly Award Nominee: Goaltender Craig Kowalski was nominated for the ECHL goaltender of the week. Kowalski saw action in all three 'Blades games this past weekend, going 1-1-0 with a goals against average of 1.71. The rookie net minder also earned his first professional shutout on Nov. 27 with a 1-0 win over Las Vegas.
All-Time Record!: On Saturday, Nov. 27, the Everblades matched an all-time franchise record for fewest penalty minutes in a game. The 'Blades didn't have a single penalty called against them by referee Jamie Koharski during the entire game. As a matter of fact, there were only two minor penalties called in the contest. The zero penalty minutes in one game matched the 'Blades total on Dec. 23, 1999 vs. Tallahassee.
League Leaders: Damian Surma enters this week's action tied for eighth in the ECHL in scoring with 17 points (9g, 8a). His nine goals is tied for fifth in the league. Surma is also tied for second in the ECHL in plus/minus with a plus-11. Reggie Berg is second in the league in shooting percentage with a 29.4% mark. Matt Hendricks is seventh in the league in rookie scoring with 14 points (6g, 8a). Defensively, Matt Pagnutti is tied for 5th in defensive scoring with 11 points (2g, 9a).
Milestones Accomplished: Two 'Blades players skated in their 500th career games this past week. Both Brad Chuch and Matt Pagnutti reach the 500 games played mark in their career on Friday night against Greenville. Each player saw their pro career start in 1996-97...in addition, Ernie Hartlieb collected his 100th career assist on Nov. 13 at Idaho.
Milestones Approaching: Several other Everblades players are approaching milestone's in their professional careers. Here's a look at where some of the 'Blades stand: D Jared Newman is 15 games away from skating in his 100th career game... F Brent McDonald is 28 games away from playing in his 300th career game...D Tim O'Connell need to skate in five more games to reach the 300 games played mark...goaltender Rob Zepp needs two more games played to hit the 100 games played mark in an Everblades uniform, and is six wins away from reaching his 50th career victory.
Special Teams: Entering this week, here's a look at the Everblades special teams: Power Play: 24st (8-for-73), 11.0% overall, 20th at home, 11.1%, and 21st on the road, 10.7%. Penalty Kill: 28th (44-for-64), 68.8% overall, 27th at home, 71.1%, and 28th on the road, 65.4%)
Coach's Show: The Florida Everblades weekly coach's show, "Blades Talk" will return on Monday, November 29 at Stevie Tomato's Sports Page in Cape Coral. The show will run live from 7-8 p.m. and can be heard live on SportsRadio 770 AM. The weekly Monday night show features the "voice" of the Florida Everblades Kevin Reiter along with 'Blades head coach Gerry Fleming. This week, defenseman Tom Reimann will join the show. Fans are encouraged to attend!
