Myrtle Beach Thunderboltz News Release

FLORENCE, SC – The Pee Dee Pride announced today that the team will hold their annual Teddy Bear Toss on Saturday, December 11 when they host the Louisiana IceGators.

All fans are encouraged to bring a new, plush toy to that night's game. After the Pride score their first goal of the night, fans will throw the toys on to the ice. All of the toys collected will benefit the Florence County EMS and Florence County Sheriff's Office. The toys are used to comfort children in times of distress.

"Pride fans have been extremely generous with the Teddy Bear Toss over the last several years," Pride Chief Operating Officer Debbie Hyler said. "These teddy bears serve an important role with the EMS and Sheriff's Office, and we are anticipating another great response by our fans."

"With EMS, the teddy bears are used to give to sick and injured children as we transport them to the hospitals," Florence County EMS Captain Chip Culbertson said. "A little bear makes a big difference to a scared child in their time of distress. There is no way to describe the impact that these bears have on both the child and the paramedic."

In addition to the Teddy Bear Toss, the EMS will take on the Sheriff's Office in a broom hockey game during the first intermission.

The Pride are home for three games this weekend. Friday, it's a showdown for first place in the East Division as the Pride host the Charlotte Checkers. The Florida Everblades then come to town for back-to-back games on Saturday (7:30) and Sunday (2:30). Sunday is Kids' Day, with 200 and 400 level seats just $2.50 for kids 12 and under. In addition, kids' meals (hot dog, chips, and soda) and are also available for $2.50. Following the game, there will be a Skate with the Pride session exclusively for members of the RedBone Alley/Paws' Pals Kids Club.
