Atlanta Gladiators News Release

Comeback! The Gladiators overcame their biggest deficit in a game to come back and win in Saturday's 5-4 overtime win against the Mississippi Sea Wolves at the Arena at Gwinnett Center. The Gladiators trailed the Sea Wolves 3-0 before scoring three straight to tie the game at 3 before sending it into overtime where Jim Jackson scored the game winner 40 seconds into the extra session.

Three in a Row: The Gladiators won their third consecutive game on Saturday night to string together the team's longest winning streak of the season. The Gladiators snapped a three game skid with an 8-4 win over South Carolina on Thursday. Gwinnett followed that up with a 7-0 win on Friday in Louisiana and capped the week off with a 5-4 come-from-behind overtime win over Mississippi on Saturday night. The Gladiators longest winning streak of last season stood at 5 games.

Five is Right Out! Although thou shalt count to four and skip three if you are counting the number of goals that the Gladiators have allowed this season. Gwinnett has not allowed more than four goals in any game this season and has allowed four goals in each of the last five games. The Gladiators have given up four goals in 9 of 15 games this season while the Gladiators have not given up 2 goals to an opponent this season.

Where are the Hats? Rookie forward Brett Engelhardt tallied the first hat trick in Gladiators history at the Arena at Gwinnett Center in Thursday's 8-4 win over the South Carolina Stingrays. It was also the first hat trick of the season for the Gladiators and the first of Engelhardt's pro career. Kevin Doell is the only other player to record a hat trick in Gladiators history as the forward scored 4 goals in two different games last season, both on the road.

On the Board: The Gladiators have not lost in regulation this season when Chris Durno has posted at least one point in a game. The Gladiators are 7-0-2 this season when he records a point and just 1-3-0 when the forward is kept off the score sheet. Durno added two assists in Thursday's 8-4 win over South Carolina. He chipped in a goal in Friday's 7-0 shutout win over Louisiana and had a goal and an assist in Saturday's 5-4 win against Mississippi.

Blanked! Gladiators goaltender T.J. Aceti recorded the team's first shutout of the season posting 26 saves in a 7-0 win over the Louisiana IceGators on Friday night. For the netminder, it was his third professional shutout of his ECHL career as he recorded two shutouts last season with the Long Beach Ice Dogs.

Lending a helping hand: Gladiators forward Kris Goodjohn recorded his second consecutive 3-assist game in Friday's 7-0 win over the Louisiana IceGators. Goodjohn recorded 3 assists in Thursday's 8-4 win over South Carolina and followed that up with 3 more in Friday's 7-0 win over Louisiana. He extended his consecutive games assist streak to five games as he picked up a helper in Saturday's 5-4 overtime win over Mississippi. The Calgary, Alberta native has posted 12 assists on the season for the Gladiators.

Record Watch: Gladiators captain Cam Brown continues to creep towards the ECHL all time games played record currently held at 678 games by Rod Taylor set from 1991-03. Taylor played with six different teams. Brown has appeared in 665 games in his ECHL career, just 13 games shy of tying the all time mark and needs 14 to break the record. If Brown doesn't miss a game, he is schedule to tie the record on December 30th when the Gladiators visit Greenville.
