Pee Dee Pride Weekly

November 29, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Myrtle Beach Thunderboltz News Release

LAST WEEK: Pee Dee went a perfect 3-0-0 last week to extend its unbeaten streak to six games (5-0-1). The Pride are 10-4-2 on the season for 22 points, and are just one point behind first-place Charlotte in the East Division.

Wednesday, November 24 @ Augusta PRIDE 3 Lynx 2 (SO)

Pee Dee spotted Augusta a 2-0 lead as Sean Connolly and Jamie Johnson netted first-period goals. After a scoreless second period, the Pride pulled within one just 1:28 into the final frame on Kevin Cooper's third goal of the season. Brian Collins tied the game 10:13 into the third. The game would eventually go on the shootout. Through the first five shooters, both teams had two goals, sending it to sudden death. It would take until the ninth round to decide it, when Kyle Kidney found the back of the net for the Pride, and Nick Boucher stopped Mike Sandbeck to give the Pride the victory. Boucher stopped each of the last six Lynx shooters, including five with the game on the line.

Friday, November 26 v. South Carolina PRIDE 3 Stingrays 1

The Pride returned home for the first time in two weeks, and defeated the Stingrays for the first time in four tries this season. Tyler Kindle started the scoring for the Pride, blasting a slap shot past Kirk Daubenspeck 11:41 into the contest. South Carolina tied it late in the second period on a Joe Tenute tally. Gregg Johnson put the Pride up for good with a shorthanded tally 8:56 into the third, and Brian Collins set the final with an empty-net goal with just 0.1 seconds remaining.

Saturday, November 27 v. Charlotte PRIDE 3 Checkers 2

Pee Dee completed its sweep of the week with a 3-2 win over the East Division's top team. Mike Harder gave the Checkers an early lead, scoring a power-play goal just 5:36 into the game. Mark Mullen tied the game at one, tallying an unassisted goal with just 2:34 remaining in the first. Charlotte went back on top 2:41 into the second, as Lee Falardeau beat Nick Boucher four seconds after a power play had expired. But, the Pride came back again as former Checker Chad Spurr tallied a power-play goal of his own at 6:59 to tie it at two. Brian Collins' 10th of the season at 17:39 set the final. Boucher continued his stellar play between the pipes, turning aside 31 of 33 Charlotte shots.
