Wichita Thunder News Release
Wichita, KS (Jan. 10th) - The Wichita Thunder, proud member of the ECHL and powered by Toyota, added some depth today with the addition of defenseman Travis Granbois. He is expected to make his debut tonight as the Thunder host the Evansville IceMen.
Granbois, 29, started the season overseas with VEU Feldkirch in the Austria2 League. A native of Campbell River, British Columbia, the 6-foot-1, 201-pounder spent a majority of his career in Bloomington having played for the PrairieThunder, Blaze and Thunder in parts of five seasons. His first stint came during the 2008-09 season and then returned to Bloomington from 2010-14. Over that span, he collected 177 points (61g, 116a) to go along with 603 penalty minutes. Granbois began his pro career with the Quad City Mallards in 2006-07, where he racked up 77 penalty minutes in his rookie season. The nine-year pro's best season came during the final year that the Blaze was a member of the Central Hockey League in 2012-13, recording 47 points (14g, 33a) and amassing 143 penalty minutes. The following year, he served as the captain and player assistant during the first season of the franchise's move to the SPHL.
Wichita returns home this weekend for a pair of games against the Evansville Icemen, starting tonight at 7:05 p.m. Come celebrate Thunderdog's birthday with all of his mascot friends tomorrow night, presented by Sonic, Atomic Billboards and Premier Martial Arts.
