Brampton Beast News Release
ELMIRA - It has been four years since the Donati brothers' last played together in Elmira, where the duo dominated the league as members of the Jackals in 2010-11 and finished first and second in ECHL scoring.
With a contingent of Beast fans making the long trek down from Brampton, Ontario, the visiting team put on a show in Elmira, New York, only to fall to the Jackals by a score of 4-1 on Friday.
The puck took an unlucky bounce early on to put the Jackals up 1-0 in the first minute of play, with Thomas Nesbitt scoring his sixth of the season. The Beast would battle back all night in an attempt to exact revenge over a team that was able to put a damper on the their first road trip of the season way back in October, ultimately coming up short over the final 40 minutes of play.
Down by three goals with time winding down, Pitton found the puck in the offensive zone to set up rookie sensation Mathew Maione, who was able to stuff the rebound past Travis Fullerton for his seventh of the season to cut the lead to 3-1.
After the Jackals found the back of the net late in the third period, Dalton Thrower rushed to the defense of teammate Elgin Reid, who was clipped in the face with a high stick from Justin Sawyer. Thrower came over the boards to challenge Sawyer for his second career pro fight, an intense affair that ended with the Montreal Canadiens prospect scoring the decisive takedown.
The Beast look to get back in the win column tomorrow night when they travel to Reading Pennsylvania for the first of a two-game set against the Royals. After the doubleheader, the Beast return to the Powerade Centre for a three-game series against the Wheeling Nailers. The Brampton Fire and Police Departments will take to the ice prior to the game on Friday night for a the First Annual Brampton Beast Guns and Hoses game at 5:30PM. It's Hockey Day in Brampton on Saturday where the first 2500 fans will receive mini sticks from Monte Carlo Inns. The final game of the series is a 'Beach Day' on Sunday, where the Beast launch their first airplane toss of the season. Tickets are still available for the game and can be purchased online at bramptonbeast.com or by calling 905-564-1684.
