Rays Begin Last Week in a Fourth Place Tie!

Week in Review:
The South Carolina Stingrays won two out of the three games they played this week and moved into a fourth place tie with the Florida Everblades with four games remaining on the season. The Rays began the week with a 5-4 shoot out win at home against the Mobile Mysticks on Tuesday, March 19. After a Dave Seitz hat trick in the first period the Mysticks clawed their way back into a shootout. Joel Irving netted the game winner for the Rays in the seventh round. On Friday night, Charlotte topped South Carolina 2-1 snapping a seven game home winning streak. The Stingrays finished the week with a dramatic come from behind win over the Pee Dee Pride in Florence on Saturday night. South Carolina scored three third period goals to put away the Pride in regulation.
Team Notes:
Saturday's road win in Florence was the first win on the road for the Stingrays in eight tries. The team had not won on the road since February 14th at Augusta. The Stingrays are currently tied with the Florida Everblades for fourth place in the division with 79 points. The Rays have one game in hand on the Everblades. South Carolina is three points behind the Columbia Inferno and four points behind the Pee Dee Pride for second position. The Stingrays play their next two games against the Columbia Inferno. The Rays power play is ranked first in the ECHL, clicking at 21.6%. The penalty kill is ranked tenth in the league at 83.1%.
Players:
South Carolina was aided in Saturday night's win on goals by four different defensemen. Aaron Schneekloth netted his first career professional goal in the first period and Jared Bednar, Trevor Johnson and Ryan Brindley all scored in the third. Brindley is now among the leagues leaders in points by a defenseman. He has 15 goals and 29 assists for 44 points. Dave Seitz had six points on three goals and three assists last week to grab the league lead in goals with 40 and pull in to second place in the points race with 91. Seitz is six points behind Louis Dumont in the points race. Seitz has four games remaining, while Dumont has one.

First game of a home and home series between these two teams. The Rays trail the Inferno by three points. South Carolina has a record of 1-5 against the Inferno this season, but won the last game between the two 6-3 at home.

The Rays have not won in Columbia this season. The Inferno has a record of 20-11-3 at home and the Rays are 11-17-6 on the road.

South Carolina is unbeaten against the Generals this season 2-0. Greensboro has the worst record in the ECHL at 22-38-8.
Greenville Saturday, March 30, 2002 7:30 North Charleston Coliseum
Fan appreciation night at the Coliseum with free parking. The Rays will hold a season ticket holder party before the game. South Carolina is 2-4 this season against the Grrrowl, but has won its last two games against it.
