New Orleans' Schafer Named InGlasCo East Coast Hockey League Goalie of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. -- New Orleans' Paxton Schafer is the East Coast Hockey League Goalie of the Week for March 18-24.

The 5-9 and 155-pound Schafer was 3-0 with a 0.33 goals against average and a .987 save percentage in three starts.

He posted back-to-back shutouts and held opponents scoreless for 149:15 breaking the team record of 145:07 set by Ron Vogel and Alexei Volkov during the 2000-01 season.

Drafted in the second round (47th overall) by Boston in the 1995 National Hockey League draft, Schafer made 23 saves in a 1-0 win at Mississippi on Friday and had another 23 saves in a 5-0 win against Baton Rouge on Saturday. The 26-year-old Schafer closed out the weekend making 25 saves in a 3-1 win against Pensacola on Sunday.
