Week in Review:

3/22/02 Columbia 4 Columbus 1
After a scoreless first period, Kevin Mackie scored on a power play at 7:41 with passes from Didier Tremblay and Matt Ulwelling. Mike Legg scored the game-winning goal a few minutes later on a 2-on-1 pass from Shane Campbell. In the third period, Shawn Wansborough scored two goals in less than three minutes to give the Inferno a 4-1 win over the Cottonmouths. Mike Legg and Rejean Stringer each had an assist on both Wansborough goals. Martin Villeneuve faced 30 shots and made 29 saves for his 27th win of the season.

3/23/02 Columbia 3 Charlotte 2
Charlotte started the scoring off with a goal by Lance Ulmer at 6:51 of the first period. Kevin Mackie scored his 8th goal of the season to tie the game up at 5:27 of the second period, with an assist from Barrie Moore. Less than three minutes later, Lance Ulmer scored his second of the night to give the Checkers a one-goal lead. Barrie Moore tied the game for Columbia with his 19th goal of the season with passes from Rejean Stringer and Ryan Bonni. With 4:37 left of the clock, Dennis Vial scored the game winner. Martin Villeneuve notched his 28th win of the season making 30 saves on 32 shots.

Team Notes:
The Inferno finished the week with a record of 35-21-12 (82 points), third place in the Southeast Division. Columbia is only one point behind the second place Pee Dee Pride.

Players:
Rejean Stringer had three assists this past week...Stringer also has seven points in his last five games...Shawn Wansborough scored two goals vs. Columbus 3/22.

Columbia faces off against the Stingrays for the seventh time this season. The Inferno leads the series 5-1-0 and faces the Stingrays one more time on Thursday.

vs. South Carolina Thurs. March 28, 2002 7:00pm Carolina Coliseum
This is the final meeting between Columbia and South Carolina.

vs. New Orleans Fri. March 29, 2002 7:30pm Carolina Coliseum
The Inferno visited the Brass in January for two games coming home with a record of 1-0-1. This is the final regular season home game for Columbia. The Brass is in fifth place with 71 points in the Southwest Division.

@ Charlotte Sat. March 30, 2002 7:30pm Cricket Arena
Inferno are 3-1-0 against the Checkers. This is the last game of the season for the Inferno.

Community:
Dennis Vial will be the guest on Monday's coach's show at the Holiday Inn Coliseum at 5pm on Assembly Street. Coach White will be discussing the run towards the playoffs, last week's games, and taking calls from the fans.

Heathwood Hall's 5th graders will be watching practice and listening to Coach White talk hockey on Wednesday, March 27th at 10:30am.

Coach White and Blaze will be in Irmo for the YMCA Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 30th at 8am.

Blaze will be at Finley Park on March 30th for Kids Day.
