Help for the Homeless & DARE Night on Tuesday
Upcoming week of March 25th - March 31st:
· Tuesday, March 26th - Tonight is KERN 1410 and Grocery Outlet "Help for the Homeless" canned food drive. Fans donating two cans of food receive free terrace level admission to the 7:00pm game vs. the Colorado Gold Kings. All donations received go to the Kern County Food Bank. Fans can redeem non-perishable items at the game on Tuesday or in advance at Grocery Outlet, 3917 Buck Owens Blvd. and at the Condors Closet, across the street from Centennial Garden. It's also the second DARE night of the year, spring semester DARE students received free tickets for tonight's game courtesy of HOT 94.1 and the Holiday Inn Select.
· Wednesday, March 27th - Condors players along with Colonel Claw'd and Condors staff will be at the East Bakersfield Kids Club, located at 2009 Niles Street, from 5:00pm - 7:00pm for an Easter egg hunt.
· Thursday, March 28th - "Condors Corner" will be broadcast from the Q Street Lounge inside the Holiday Inn Select. The show will be from 6:00pm - 7:00pm and broadcast on KGEO 1230-AM. "Condor's Corner" is hosted by play-by-play broadcaster Kevin Bartl, and features Head Coach Paul Kelly. This week's guests are Condors players Jamie Cooke and Ryan Foster.
· Friday, March 29th - Time Warner Cable and 101.5 KGFM present the Rug Rats, don't miss this crazy group of characters entertain the crowd at Centennial Garden. Game time vs. San Diego is 7:00pm. Tonight is also 101.5 KGFM Teacher Appreciation Night, teachers recognized for excellence by their schools receive free admission for the game. It's also a Time Warner Cable Family Night, subscribers receive a $5.00 admission per person by presenting the coupon available in your cable bill. The game is also the final Time Warner Cable and John's Incredible Pizza Company Colonel Claw'ds Kids Club game of the season with members receiving free admission. Friday is also a "Big Buddies" game, underprivileged children have been given the opportunity to attend tonight's game for free thanks to local organizations and the Active 20/30 club.
Week in review, March 18th - March 24th:
· Monday, March 18th - The Annual Charity Tip-A-Condor Dinner was held Wood' ys Grill Bar & Deck. More than $4,700 was raised for Wendi Lund, who was diagnosed with terminal cancer in December. Wendi is the girlfriend of Idaho Steelheads winger Derek Paget. The funds will help her receive an expensive, alternative treatment, not covered by insurance, and focuses on rebuilding the damage to her immune system that chemotherapy has caused. Without successful treatment, she was given four to six months to live.
· Wednesday, March 20th - The Condors assisted with the collection of children's books as part of the California High Patrol and the Department of Housing and Community Development Cesar E. Chavez Book Drive. Fans donating a new or gently used children's book received complimentary terrace admission to the game. More the 100 books were donated to children of farm workers through the program.
Condors Droppings:
· The Condors sponsorship of the Entertainment Publications "One for the Community" program, along with KGET-TV17 assisted in Bakersfield school's and non-profit organizations raising a combined $163,000 for their respective causes during the 2001 campaign.
· The final Time Warner Cable and John's Incredible Pizza Company Colonel Claw'ds Kids Club party of the year is Monday, April 1 from 5:30pm to 7:30pm at John's Incredible Pizza Company at 3709 Rosedale Highway. Admission is $6.00 and includes the Condors autograph party, John's all-you-can-eat pizza buffet, soft drinks, 8 game tokens and one amusement ride. Tickets are on sale at the Condors office and at the Kids Club table during games this week.
· March's website auction of the month features dinner with two of your favorite players plus you and a guest. Log onto www.bakersfieldcondors.com to place your bid. Proceeds go to benefit the American Red Cross -Kern County Chapter.
