Fresno Falcons News Release

FRESNO, Calif. - For the second consecutive year, the Fresno Falcons have set a new single season attendance record, shattering the mark set during last year's record breaking season. The record was set with the club's first sellout of the season this past Saturday night. To thank the fans, all those who attended Saturday's game can redeem their ticket stubs for free Upper Arena seats to Fresno's next game on Wednesday night.

Through the first 32 home games of the 2001-02 season, the Falcons have drawn 191,158 fans for an average of 5,974 fans per game. This season the team has increased their attendance by 13% over last year. Last season saw the team draw 190,832 fans for a per game average of 5,301, a 62% increase from the season before. In less than two full seasons, the team has already eclipsed the total combined attendance for the three seasons between 1997 and 2000.

The Falcons currently rank second in the West Coast Hockey League behind the San Diego Gulls in both total attendance and average attendance. They are currently 17th in average attendance and 24th in total attendance out of the 94 minor league hockey teams in North America

With four home games still remaining in the 2001-02 regular season, the team looks to break to the 200,000 barrier for the first time in franchise history in the next couple of games. The Falcons will complete their current five-game home stand on Wednesday, March 27, against the Colorado Gold Kings at 7 p.m.
