Wheeling Nailers News Release
Wheeling, WV - Fans of the Wheeling Nailers are in for an exciting weekend of hockey this weekend, which will close out the 2001-02 East Coast Hockey League regular season.
The Nailers are currently three points out of the fourth and final playoff spot in the Northwest Division. The Nailers travel to face the Reading Royals tonight at 7:30 pm and then return home for a 7:30 game against the division-leading Dayton Bombers. The Nailers will then visit Cincinnati on Sunday at 3:00 pm. The Cincinnati Cyclones are currently three points ahead of Wheeling in the Northwest Division standings.
The Nailers home game on Saturday will be Fan Appreciation Night, as prizes will be given away to fans throughout the game. Some of the more extravagant prizes include a brand new Honda ATV from Paradox Motor Sports, an overnight package from Mountaineer Race Track, a VCR from Wine & Beverage Merchants and Coors / Coors Light, and an 18-speed Mountain Bike from the Washington Avenue True Value. Additionally, the first 2,000 fans will receive a Rally Towel courtesy of Dick's Sporting Goods.
Wheeling Nailers head coach, John Brophy, is currently at 998 career wins. Should the Nailers win tonight in Reading, Saturday's game against the Dayton Bombers could possibly be John Brophy's 1,000th career win. Only one other coach, Scotty Bowman of the Detroit Red Wings, has achieved this mark.
A very limited number of tickets remain for Saturday's game against the Dayton Bombers, however, the Box Office will be selling Standing-Room Only tickets. For more information, call (304) 234-4625 or toll free 1-877-NAIL-TIX.
