COLUMBUS, OHIO - The Columbus Blue Jackets have recalled defenseman Darrel Scoville from the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League, club President, General Manager and Interim Head Coach Doug MacLean announced today. The club also assigned defenseman Duvie Westcott to the Crunch.
Scoville has played 18 games with Syracuse this season, registering three goals and six assists for nine points, plus 24 penalty minutes. The 27-year-old missed 31 games due to abdominal surgery and 18 games with a broken foot. He returned to the lineup on Feb. 17 for the Crunch. Scoville will be making his Blue Jackets debut tonight against the Dallas Stars.
The Swift Current, Saskatchewan native played three seasons in the Calgary Flames organization from 1998-99 until 2000-01. He made his NHL debut with the Flames in 1999-2000, playing six games in Calgary. Scoville enjoyed his best professional season in 2000-01 as he collected 15-32-47 in 76 games with Saint John. He joined the Blue Jackets organization in 2001-02 and registered 5-16-21 in 51 games with Syracuse. Prior to turning professional, Scoville played three seasons at Merrimack College (Hockey East).

To be eligible for the AHL playoffs, a player must have been on the team's roster by 3 p.m. today. Westcott can be recalled to the Blue Jackets at any time and still participate in the AHL playoffs.
