Flames Assign Sutter and Payne

Saint John, NB – The Saint John Flames announced today that they have assigned 22-year-old right wing Shaun Sutter to the Johnstown Chiefs of the East Coast Hockey League and 27-year-old left wing Jason Payne to the Long Beach Ice Dogs of the West Coast Hockey League.

Sutter, a 6'1", 175 lb native of Red Deer, Alberta, recorded 5 points (3 goals, 2 assists) and 14 penalty minutes in 20 games with Saint John this season. Sutter also appeared in 2 games with Johnstown this season recording 3 points (2 goals, 1 assist).

Payne, a 6'1", 210 lb native of Toronto, Ontario, recorded 1 goal and 72 penalty minutes in 29 games with Saint John this season.

Saint John's next games are scheduled for this weekend as the Flames make stops in Binghamton Friday (8:05 pm), Albany Saturday (3:00 pm) and Wilkes-Barre Sunday (6:05 pm). All Flames games are broadcast live and can be heard at 96.1 NewSong FM in Saint John or on the web at www.newsongfm.com. All times listed are Saint John times.

The Flames return to action at Harbour Station on Friday and Saturday, March 28th and 29th, when they will host the St. John's Maple leafs.

The 2002-03 season marks the Saint John Flames' tenth as a member of the American Hockey League and as the primary development organization of the National Hockey League's Calgary Flames.
