Flames Sign Geris, Tozer

Saint John, NB – The Saint John Flames Hockey Club today announced the signing of defenceman David Geris to a Professional Tryout and goaltender Aaron Tozer to an Amateur Tryout Agreement.

Geris, 26, spent the last three seasons with the University of New Brunswick Varsity Red Devils. Drafted by the Florida Panthers in the 5th round of the 1994 NHL Entry Draft, the 6'5", 240 lb native of North Bay, Ontario, played two seasons of minor pro in the Colonial and United Hockey Leagues as well as appearing in 28 AHL contests during the 1996-97 season with the Carolina Monarchs. Geris will be available for the Flames contests tonight versus Lowell and tomorrow at Portland.

Tozer, 28, has been skating with the A.J. Stars of the Southern New Brunswick Senior Hockey League for the past two seasons. The 5'8", 155 native of Miramichi, New Brunswick, joined the Flames for this weekend's games and dressed for last night's contest versus Springfield but did not play.

The Flames wrap up their 2002/03 home schedule tonight as they host the Lowell Lock Monsters at 7:00 p.m. on Fan Appreciation Night. The 2002-03 season marks the Saint John Flames' tenth as a member of the American Hockey League and as the primary development organization of the National Hockey League's Calgary Flames.
