
Sound Tigers Sign McKay To PTO

BRIDGEPORT, CT â The American Hockey League's 2001-02 Regular Season Champion and Eastern Conference Playoff Champion Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, have signed Center Konrad McKay to a professional-tryout contract and added him to their roster under emergency circumstances.
McKay, 23, played most of this season with the East Coast Hockey League's Charlotte Checkers recording 13 goals, 24 assists, 37 points, a team-leading 209 penalty minutes and a +22 in 51 games. The 5'11'' 190-pound native of Wabowden, Manitoba also notched 18 goals, 20 assists, 38 points and 231 penalty minutes in 63 games with Charlotte, as well as four penalty minutes in three games with the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack last season.
The Sound Tigers will host the Albany River Rats tonight at 7:35 p.m. at Bridgeport's Arena at Harbor Yard. They will visit Hartford tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. and host the Wolf Pack Sunday at 4:05 p.m. in their final game of the regular season.
