Bulldogs Finish Home Schedule with Another Victory

The Hamilton Bulldogs concluded the home portion of their 2002-03 regular season schedule by clinching first place overall in the AHL with a 5-3 win in front of 10,142 fans at Copps Coliseum on Saturday night. The Bulldogs will finish tops in the AHL for the first time in the franchise's seven year history.

Through 79 games the Bulldogs have earned 49 wins, 18 losses, 8 ties and 4 overtime losses.

Scoring for the Bulldogs on Saturday night were Michael Ryder, Ron Hainsey, Jani Rita, Jarret Stoll and captain Benoit Grattton.

The Moose replied with goals from Jason King (2) and Nathan Smith.

Hamilton goaltender Ty Conklin earned his 19th win of the season stopping 29 shots. Mike Minard, a former Bulldogs goaltender, made 24 saves in the Moose loss.

On special teams the Bulldogs scored two power play goals on four opportunities, while the Moose were two for eight with the man-advantage.

As well, Saturday night over $15,000 was raised for the "Travis Carter Fund". Travis Carter is a young boy who suffers from "Battens Disease". Money was raised through fans making donations and purchasing tickets for the upper bowl general admission seating.

The Hamilton Bulldogs will conclude the 2002-03 season on Sunday as they travel to Rochester to take on the Amerks. Bulldogs fans can listen to Derek Wills call all the action, beginning with the pre-game show at 5:50 p.m. on 820 CHAM-AM and on-line at www.hamiltonbulldogs.com.
