Bulldogs Tie Binghamton

The Hamilton Bulldogs snapped a three game losing streak as they battled to a 3-3 tie against the Binghamton Senators at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena.

Also on Friday night the Providence Bruins lost 2-1 to the Portland Pirates, which gave the Bulldogs their first-ever regular season AHL Eastern Conference title. Hamilton will have home-ice advantage throughtout the Eastern Conference playoffs.

After missing 37 games Bulldogs captain Benoit Gratton made his return to the Bulldogs lineup. Gratton made an immediate impact as he scored the Bulldogs' third goal of the game.

Also scoring for Hamilton on Friday night were Chad Hinz and Jani Rita.

The Senators replied with goals from Chris Bala, Joe Murphy and former Hamilton Bulldogs' enforcer Dennis Bonvie.

Ty Conklin was solid for the Bulldogs as he made 28 saves. Cayuga native and AHL All-Rookie Goaltender Ray Emery stopped 38 shots for the Senators.

The Hamilton Bulldogs next action takes place tomorrow night - Saturday, April 5th at 7:00 p.m. as the Bulldogs host the Manitoba Moose in the final regular season home game. Bulldogs fans can purchase general admission upper bowl tickets for $10 at local Commisso's Food Markets. All proceeds will go towards the "Travis Carter Fund".

DOG BYTES: Benoit Gratton and Jani Rita each scored their 20th goals of the season, respectively, on Friday night. The Bulldogs now have five players with twenty or more goals this season (Ward, Ryder, Stoll, Gratton & Rita.) That ties the franchise record set in 1997-98 & 2001-02.
