
Bears Welcome 300,000th Fan Saturday Night

HERSHEY, Paâ Tonight the HERSHEY BEARS® achieved another milestone during their inaugural season at GIANT Center. In celebrating their 65th season in the American Hockey League, the 300,000th fan of the 2002-2003 season passed through the doors of GIANT Center to watch the BEARS take on the Philadelphia Phantoms. Face-off is at 7 p.m.
The lucky fan, John Krug of York, Pa., arrived at GIANT Center at 6:10 p.m. and was awarded a special commemorative jersey. During the game, Krug will be presented a limited edition 5 lb. HERSHEY®'s chocolate bar.
Before tonight's game, GIANT Center has hosted 294,749 hockey fans since the BEARS played their inaugural game on October 19, 2002. Prior to tonight's game, the BEARS have sold out six games this season, with an average attendance of 7,756 supporters per game.
"The BEARS dedicated and supportive fans have always been amongst the very best in the American Hockey League. To reach the 300,000 plateau in the first season at GIANT Center is a tremendous highlight for our historic franchise," said BEARS President and General Manager Doug Yingst.
