San Antonio Rampage News Release

SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League announced today that the Florida Panthers have reassigned defenseman Branislav Mezei. In addition, San Antonio recalled forward Eric Schneider from the Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League.

Mezei, 22, has played 11 games with the Panthers this season, scoring two goals. He has not played due to injury since scoring the game-winning goal against the New Jersey Devils on Jan. 1. The 6-foot-5, 235-pound native of Nitra, Slovakia, has played 77 career games in the NHL over the last two seasons, tallying nine points (3-6-9). He will be in the Rampage lineup on Sunday night when they visit the Chicago Wolves.

Mezei, who has not played in a game with the Rampage this year, split last season between the National Hockey League's New York Islanders and the AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers. He, along with teammate Juraj Kolnik played together on the Bridgeport squad that lost to the Chicago Wolves in the Calder Cup finals last year.

Schneider, 25, rejoins the Rampage after playing in game one of the CHL's Southern Championship on Thursday night, April 3, in a game which the Bucks blanked the Ice Bats 1-0. In four playoff games with Laredo he has picked up three points (1-2-3) with a +4 plus/minus rating. The Bucks and Ice Bats meet for game two tomorrow night in Austin.

In 23 games with San Antonio Schneider has registered 10 points (3-7-10) and 27 penalty minutes.

The Rampage battle the defending Calder Cup Champion Chicago Wolves tonight at 7:00 p.m. at Allstate Arena. The game can be heard live on KSJL 92.5 FM/810 AM with Andrew Monaco calling all the action.
