Commodore and Damphousse Traded to Calgary for Niedermayer

CINCINNATI, Ohio - Cincinnati Mighty Ducks defenseman Mike Commodore and goaltender Jean-Francois Damphousse were traded by the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim to the Calgary Flames in exchange for Rob Niedermayer on Tuesday.

Commodore, 23, had two goals and nine assists with a team-leading 210 penalty minutes in 61 games with Cincinnati this season.

Damphousse, 23, appeared in 31 games with Cincinnati, going 12-14-4 with a 3..13 goals-against average and .902 save percentage.

Niedermayer, 28, had eight goals and 10 assists with 42 penalty minutes in 54 games with Calgary this season. In 10 NHL seasons, the 6-foot-2, 204-pounder has 115 goals and 189 assists for 304 points in 629 games.

A native of Cassiar, British Columbia, Niedermayer was acquired by Calgary from Florida with a second-round choice in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft for Valeri Bure and Jason Wiemer June 23, 2001. He was originally drafted by Florida in the first round, fifth overall, in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft.
