RailRaiders fall short of ticket goal

April 5, 2006 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Cincinnati RailRaiders News Release

CINCINNATI, Ohio -- Cincinnati RailRaiders president and CEO Pete Robinson announced Wednesday the American Hockey League franchise did not reach its goal of 2,000 deposits on season tickets. That was the number necessary to move forward and secure an National Hockey League affiliation for 2006-07.

More than 80 percent of the ticket-sales goal was reached.

"It's not a good feeling, but at the same time, our staff worked hard and we left nothing on the table," Robinson said. "We are grateful for the support we received from fans, media and the American Hockey League during the ticket campaign. Unfortunately, the numbers while strong were not where they needed to be."

Fans who placed a $25 deposit on season tickets will be issued a refund within 30 days.

At this time, Gardens Hockey Inc. will continue to own the franchise and the American Hockey League rights in Cincinnati. The date American Hockey League franchises have to declare active or inactive for the 2006-07 season is May 15.
