Peoria Rivermen News Release

Peoria, IL (April 5, 2006) - President and CEO Bart Rogers of the Peoria Rivermen, the proud primary affiliate of the St. Louis Blues of the National Hockey League, detailed again today the various special events that the Rivermen have planned for their next home game at Carver Arena at the Peoria Civic Center. On Friday, April 7, when the Rivermen are scheduled to host the Chicago Wolves for an American Hockey League tilt at 7:30 p.m. (CDT) at Carver Arena, the Peoria skaters will wear specialty jerseys that will be sold in a post-game charity auction, the Rivermen will host a pre-game forum on health and fitness with three local fitness experts, and the team will welcome the famous "Hanson Brothers" from the 1977 cult-classic hockey film Slap Shot. The first 3,000 fans to enter the Carver Arena doors that evening will also receive a Rivermen baseball cap compliments of OSF St. Francis Medical Center and the Children's Hospital of Illinois.

For their special jersey event on April 7, the second specialty jersey auction of the season for the club, the Rivermen will sport children-themed jerseys that appear to have been decorated by kids with finger-paint. The team will then sell the jerseys in a live auction from the Carver Arena ice surface immediately following the game. All proceeds from the auction will be donated to the Children's Hospital of Illinois in Peoria.

Prior to the match-up of the Rivermen and the Chicago Wolves on April 7, the Rivermen will host a health and fitness forum. Leading the session will be licensed athletic trainer Greg Eberle, Rivermen strength and conditioning coach and proprietor of EBS Sports; Steve Tippett, PT, PhD, SCS, ATC, an associate professor of physical therapy and health science at Bradley University; and Todd Grimm, owner of the Gold's Gym locations in Peoria and Morton, Illinois. The forum will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Carver Arena Club Room Annex, and the admission price for the session is simply the cost of a Rivermen game ticket ($17.50 in the Lower Bowl and $12.50 in the Upper Bowl). Anyone interested in attending the forum should register with Rivermen Ticket Sales Manager Wendy Mitchell at (309) 676-1040, extension 107.

The evening of April 7 will be highlighted by a special appearance by the famous "Hanson Brothers" of the movie Slap Shot, a 1977 cult-classic hockey film starring Paul Newman and Michael Ontkean. The Hanson Brothers will perform several skits prior to the game and then during the first intermission. They will also receive fans and sign autographs during the game, as well as offer for sale a variety of Hanson Brothers licensed merchandise.

2005-06 Peoria Rivermen Calder Cup Playoff ticket packages are now available for discounted pre-purchase. A Lower Bowl ticket package, which includes 16 potential home dates, costs $264 per seat ($16.50 per game), and an Upper Bowl ticket package costs $184 per seat ($11.50 per game).
