Collins Returns In Another Roster Shuffle

BRIDGEPORT, CT - The American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, have announced the return of leading scorer Rob Collins, as well as the recall of center Jeremy Colliton and defenseman Allan Rourke by the big club. The Sound Tigers have also announced plans to sign center Jeff Miles and defenseman Chris Barr to professional tryout contracts.

Collins leads all Sound Tigers with 48 assists and 68 points and also has 20 goals and 52 penalty minutes in 62 AHL games, as well as one goal, one assist and two points in eight NHL games with the Islanders this season. Colliton leads all Sound Tigers rookies with 21 goals, 32 assists and 53 points and also has 44 penalty minutes in 66 AHL games with the Sound Tigers in addition to two penalty minutes in 11 NHL games with the Islanders this season. Rourke has nine goals, 22 assists, 31 points and 42 penalty minutes in 58 AHL games with the Sound Tigers, as well as one assist in one NHL game with the Islanders this season.

Miles, 24, split most of this season between the ECHL's Columbia Inferno and Utah Grizzlies and also appeared in three games with the AHL's Milwaukee Admirals. The 6'0'' 190-pounder from Pickering, Ontario leads Columbia in scoring across the board with ECHL totals of 29 goals, 39 assists and 68 points and has posted 59 penalty minutes in 64 ECHL games this season. Miles was chosen 13th, 268th overall in the ninth round, by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. He split last season between the AHL's Manchester Monarchs and the ECHL's Reading Royals. Miles turned pro in 2004 with the AHL's Norfolk Admirals after a four-year collegiate career (2000-04) at the University of Vermont of Hockey East.

Barr, who will turn 24 next Wednesday, has totaled three goals, 12 assists, 15 points and 105 penalty minutes and is a +12 in 63 ECHL games with Columbia and Reading and has also notched seven penalty minutes in five AHL games with Manchester this season. The 6'3'' 205-pounder from Nipawin, Saskatchewan played last year at the University of Saskatchewan of Canadian Interuniversity Sport and split the 2003-04 campaign between the University of Saskatchewan and the ECHL's Trenton Titans and Florence Pride. Barr also had a four-year (1999-2003) junior career with the Western Hockey League's Spokane Chiefs.

The Sound Tigers will visit the Binghamton Senators this Friday at 7:05 p.m., host the Hartford Wolf Pack this Saturday at 7:05 p.m. and visit the Portland Pirates this Sunday at 4:05 p.m. The Sound Tigers have a magic number of four standings points gained by them or lost by Binghamton to clinch a berth in the AHL's 2006 Calder Cup Playoffs.
