April 5, 2006 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Houston Aeros News Release
HOUSTON, Texas - Houston Aeros left wing Patrick O'Sullivan has been named to the American Hockey League's All-Rookie team. O'Sullivan joins fellow forwards Ryan Shannon (Portland) and Martin St. Pierre (Norfolk), defensemen Daniel Girardi (Hartford) and Mike Green (Hershey) and goalie Jimmy Howard (Grand Rapids) on the All-Rookie team.
O'Sullivan leads all AHL rookies in points (85), a total that places him fourth overall in the league. He also leads all first-year players in goals (44), which ranks him third among all players. O'Sullivan holds Aeros' rookie records in points, goals and assists (41) while also registering a plus-five. He leads the Aeros with 10 multiple-goal games.
In a torrid 24-game stretch from January 20-March 15, O'Sullivan posted 23 goals, including his second hat trick of the season, March 7 against Chicago. O'Sullivan earned AHL/Rbk Hockey Rookie of the Month laurels in January and February, becoming the first player in league history to repeat as the award winner.
The 5-foot-11, 190-pound native of Winston-Salem, N.C., celebrated his 21st birthday by scoring a goal for the PlanetUSA Team in the 2006 AHL All-Star Classic in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on February 1. He was Minnesota's second-round draft pick (No. 56 overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft
