Mike Green named to 2006 AHL All-Rookie Team

HERSHEY - The HERSHEY BEARS announced today in conjunction with the American Hockey League that defenseman Mike Green has been selected to the 2005-2006 AHL All-Rookie Team. Green becomes the first HERSHEY player since Mike Gaul in 1997-1998 to be selected to the exclusive squad.

A native of Calgary Alberta Green is the second leading scorer amongst defenseman with the BEARS, recording seven goals and 36 points in 52 games. On November 12th, in Manchester, he scored his first professional goal and added an assist in only his fourth game with HERSHEY. Green is a former first round pick of the Washington Capitals', having been selected 29th overall in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. Green has also played 22 games for the Washington Capitals recording 3 points this season and registering his first NHL goal February 3rd against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Green and the BEARS play two of their final four games this weekend including Friday night in Philadelphia, and Saturday in Norfolk. Face-off Friday night is at 7:05; catch the M & C Foreign Car Part pre-game show on WQIC 100.1 FM at 6:45.
