Cincinnati RailRaiders News Release
CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Cincinnati RailRaiders of the American Hockey League have selected Game Day Communications, a sports and entertainment public relations firm, to provide marketing and event strategies for fan development.
Game Day Communications will assist the RailRaiders in developing and implementing a season of events to help sell season tickets and sponsorships for the 2006-07 season. The RailRaiders need to secure 2,000 season ticket deposits over the next six months to show club ownership, the AHL and prospective NHL teams that Cincinnati is a viable hockey market.
The "hockey season without a season" includes road trips to see Columbus Blue Jackets, Miami Redhawks and Team USA Women games, Business of Sports: Hockey Symposium with ESPN's Barry Melrose, Sticks & Chicks: Hockey for Women, World Beer Tasting and Saves for Life program for youth.
Additionally, the team will re-engage fans through "hockey house parties," where RailRaiders President and CEO Pete Robinson, team broadcasters and staff will visit fans and their friends at their homes to discuss the club and hockey in general. Twenty of these parties are planned throughout the year.
Led by former ESPN anchor Betsy Ross, Game Day Communications serves a number of clients in the sports and entertainment industry including: Anthony Muñoz Foundation, Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon, Cincinnati Kings Professional Soccer, Marvin Lewis Community Fund and Rising Sun, Indiana.
"Cincinnati is a hockey town and the RailRaiders have a unique opportunity to re-engage the fan base in this off-season of hockey with a creative approach to event marketing," said Ross. "We are thrilled to join them in this effort."
"This is a new era for hockey at Cincinnati Gardens and with that comes a new approach to every aspect of our business," Robinson said. "The decision to involve Game Day is a necessary one for us to succeed in an increasingly competitive sports and entertainment market."
