WINNIPEG, Man. ... The Manitoba Moose and the American Hockey League today announced tickets for the 2006 AHL All-Star Classic will go on sale to the general public beginning Thursday, October 20.

Starting at 10:00 a.m. (CT), fans may purchase 2006 AHL All-Star Classic tickets at all TicketMaster locations including the MTS Centre, by calling 204-780-3333 or by going online to www.ticketmaster.ca.

Individual tickets for the 2006 AHL All-Star Classic are as follows (all prices Canadian):

Ticket prices include one ticket to the AHL All-Star Skills Competition and one ticket to the AHL All-Star Game.

The AHL All-Star Skills Competition, scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. (CT) start on Tuesday, January 31, will include players from the Canadian AHL All-Stars competing against players from the PlanetUSA AHL All-Stars, a team comprised of the league's top players born outside of Canada. The teams will compete in seven different events: Puck Control Relay, Fastest Skater, Rapid Fire, Hardest Shot, Accuracy Shooting, Pass and Score and Breakaway Relay.

The 2006 AHL All-Star Classic concludes with the AHL All-Star Game, scheduled for 7:00 p.m. (CT) on Wednesday, February 1. The annual showcase features some of the finest young talent in the game. Since 1995, more than 92 percent of the players who have suited up for an AHL All-Star Game have competed in the NHL, including Patrice Bergeron, Pavol Demitra, Rick DiPietro, Patrik Elias, Miikka Kiprusoff, Kari Lehtonen, Ryan Miller, Martin St. Louis, Jason Spezza, Eric Staal and Steve Sullivan, as well as Moose alumni Nolan Baumgartner, Ryan Kesler and Jason King.

Now in its 70th season, the AHL continues to serve as the top developmental league for all 30 National Hockey League teams. The 2006 AHL All-Star Classic from Winnipeg will be televised live in both Canada and the United States.

The MTS Centre opened in November of 2004 and has since seen over 400,000 hockey fans pass through its doors in less than a full year. The Manitoba Moose played in front of 25 sell-out crowds during the 2004-05 hockey season, including two complete upper bowl sell-outs of 15,015. The Moose are the AHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks.
