(RAPID CITY, SD) - The Rapid City Rush announced their first transaction of the 2015 portion of the season this afternoon. Second year forward Kyle Stroh has been traded to the Indy Fuel for third year forward Patrick Cullen.
Cullen comes to the Rush organization after playing in 31 games for the Indy Fuel, where he scored 7 goals along with 9 assists for 16 points. This is Cullen's second stint in the ECHL, previously playing as an amateur with the South Carolina Stingrays for 8 games back in the 2011-12 season.
A native of Washington, D.C., Cullen, 25, enters his third season of professional hockey. Prior to making his return to the ECHL, he spent the previous two seasons in the Germany3 league, as well as the DEL2 with EHC Klostersee, and the Ravensburg Towerstars and Dresdner Eislowen, respectively. Before becoming a professional hockey player, Cullen played collegiate hockey with Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, racking up 62 points in 132 games played. While at RPI, Cullen was named to the 2008-09 ECAC All-Academic and All-Rookie teams as a freshman.
