January 5, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Stockton Thunder News Release

Ontario, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's New York Islanders and AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, have sent Roberts Lipsbergs back to junior hockey to continue his development with his former junior squad, the Seattle Thunderbirds. The Thunder do maintain his rights.

Lipsbergs, 20, turned pro this season with the Stockton Thunder, playing 15 games with the Thunder and scoring 2 goals and adding an assist. His first pro point was a primary assist on a Lukas Sutter goal on November 11th against Ontario and his first pro goal occurred on November 26th against Bakersfield.

The Riga, Latvia native played in Latvia until 2012-13 when he moved to North America to play with the Seattle Thunderbirds where he led the Thunderbirds in points, putting up 58 in 64 games. His 30 goals that year ranked 4th amongst foreign players in the league. Last season, the Latvia-native collected 33 goals, again leading the Thunderbirds in that category, and amassed 52 total points in 68 games.

Teddy Bear Toss is coming up soon for the Thunder as fans will be invited to bring stuffed animals to the game on January 24 and once the Thunder score their first goal, are invited to toss them out onto the ice where they will be distributed to children in need. For tickets to the game call (209) 373-1500 or visit StocktonThunder.com.
