South Carolina Stingrays News Release

The South Carolina Stingrays wrapped up the 2014 calendar year with matchups against the Greenville Road Warriors and Florida Everblades last week for a week record of 1-1-0-0, an overall record of 16-11-1-4 and went 9-2-1-0 in December.

The week opened on Tuesday at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina. Forward Wayne Simpson, who earned an American Hockey League (AHL) call up to Providence later in the week, scored a goal and two assists and goaltender Adam Morrison earned his second shutout of the season stopping all 21 shots in a 5-0 decision over the Road Warriors.

The Stingrays returned home to the North Charleston Coliseum on Wednesday to ring in the New Year against the Everblades. Netminder Jeff Jakaitis made 20 saves, but the Everblades squeaked in a shot in the second period and added an empty-net tally for 2-0 victory. The loss snapped an eight-game point streak (7-0-1-0) for the Stingrays.
