
River Cats' home run barrage continues in loss to Grizzlies

West Sacramento, CA. - After a 12-run, seven home run outburst in last night's game the Sacramento River Cats (16-16) smacked two more homers but fell 7-3 to the Fresno Grizzlies (16-16).
Mike Yastrzemski got the scoring started in the bottom of the third, blasting his eighth homer of the year out to left center. Levi Michael would belt his first homer as the River Cats cut the lead to one in the sixth inning, but they would get no closer. Sacramento out hit Fresno 12-10, but four base running errors proved costly.
Starter Yoanys Quiala turned in the second longest outing by a River Cats starter this season going six innings, striking out five while allowing four runs. Left-hander Sam Moll provided a perfect seventh innings, striking out two to keep the River Cats in the game, but Fresno would add on in the eighth and ninth innings to put the game out of reach.
Lefty Andrew Suarez (2-1, 5.89) returns from the IL after a 17-game absence to try to take back sole possession of first place in the Pacific Northern division. Fresno will give righty Scott Copeland (1-1, 6.51) the ball for game two of this four game series. First pitch is set for 12:05 p.m. (PT). - Mike Yastrzemski is having a power surge for the River Cats as he has now homered in three straight games and five in his last six.
- The River Cats hit two more home runs tonight bringing their total to 60 on the year. If Sacramento continues this pace, they will finish the regular season with 266 home runs. The most homers hit in a season by the River Cats is 178 in 2011.
