San Antonio Rampage News Release
TORONTO - David LeNeveu captured his fourth win in his last six starts as the Rampage opened their 16-game road trip by sweeping the two-game season series against Toronto Marlies. Joel Perrault scored a pair of goals and Donald MacLean and Chris Ferraro each tallied multiple-point efforts as San Antonio defeated the Toronto 4-2 at the Air Canada Centre Thursday night.
In their first power-play opportunity of the night, Ferraro scored his third goal of the season after receiving a pass from MacLean to backhand it past Toronto's netminder Justin Pogge at 6:13 of the opening period.
Ferraro and MacLean teamed up again shortly before the period expired. Ferraro fed Randall Gelech who sent a pass to MacLean at center-ice before scoring his second point and 17th goal of the season.
The Marlies would cut the lead in half when Toronto's Colin Murphy managed to redirect Dominic D'Amour's shot from the blue-line at the 5:10 mark of the second period.
Perrault helped the Rampage regain their two-goal lead with his third power-play goal of the season midway through the second. He later gave San Antonio a 4-1 lead on an even-strength goal at 4:46 in the final frame as Rampage's leading scorer Yanick Lehoux extended his scoring streak to seven games with his 24th assist of the year.
Toronto made it a 4-2 game by Erik Westrum converting a penalty shot at the 10:07 mark of the third period.
