
All-Star Game on Mediacom

DES MOINES, IA - Iowa Stars President John Pettit, in conjunction with the Mediacom Connections Channel, today announced that the 2007 Rbk Hockey AHL All-Star Game on Monday, January 29th will air live at 6:00 PM on the Statewide Mediacom Connection Channels. Mediacom will then rebroadcast the game on the 30th at 8:00 AM.
Center Joel Lundqvist will represent the Iowa Stars at this year's festivities and will skate for the PlanetUSA team.
"We are excited that our partnership with Mediacom has allowed us the opportunity to help showcase the current stars of the AHL and future stars of the NHL to the state of Iowa", stated Pettit.
Rogers Sportsnet, which will also be producing the telecasts, will have its team of Rob Faulds (play-by-play), Sam Cosentino (analyst) and R.J. Broadhead (sideline) calling the action.
The Connections Channel is Mediacom's statewide network that provides Iowans with coverage of state and local sports and community events. It is located at channel 22 for most areas of the state. Check local listing for your community's Mediacom Connections Channel (Ch. 74 in Iowa City; Ch. 18 in Northwest Iowa).
The 2007 Rbk Hockey AHL All-Star Classic will also air live on NHL Center Ice to subscribers in the United States.
The B2 Networks will provide a live video broadband webcast of the festivities at no charge to fans around the world. Anyone with a high-speed cable modem or T1 or DSL broadband connection and Windows Media Player 9 or higher can view the Skills Competition and All-Star Game through the links to be provided on the official Web site of the American Hockey League, www.theahl.com.
Of the 394 players to take part in the AHL All-Star Classic since 1995, more than 93 percent have competed in the National Hockey League, including Patrice Bergeron, Brad Boyes, Daniel Briere, Jonathan Cheechoo, Pavol Demitra, Rick DiPietro, Patrik Elias, Ray Emery, Miikka Kiprusoff, Kari Lehtonen, Ryan Miller, Dwayne Roloson, Marc Savard, Martin St. Louis, Jason Spezza, Eric Staal, Steve Sullivan and Kyle Wellwood.
IOWA STARS INFO: The Stars travel to Peoria, Illinois to face the Rivermen tonight. Iowa returns home to host the Chicago Wolves again on Saturday, January 27th. Wells Fargo Arena game time is 7:00 PM. Saturday is All-Star poster giveaway night. The first 2,000 fans will receive a poster of Iowa Stars AHL All-Star Joel Lundqvist.
