Amerk Notes: The Amerks have won seven of their last eight games and hold an eight-point lead over the Manitoba Moose in the North Division. Despite missing his last five games with an injury, center Janis Sprukts still stands eighth among league rookies with 35 points (9+26). Defenseman Mike Funk has now missed nine straight games with an injury of his own. Goaltender Craig Anderson is now healthy and it is showing, as he has won his last six starts in net. The veteran netminder is 16-7-0 this season, with a .910 save percentage and a 2.76 goals-against average.
Amerks' All-Stars to shine: Rochester Americans forwards Clarke MacArthur and Drew Stafford will compete in the 2007 Rbk All-Star Classic at Ricoh Coliseum in Toronto on Sunday, January 28th and Monday, January 29th. MacArthur will play with the Canadian AHL All-Stars, while Stafford will don the PlanetUSA uniform for the event.
Grand Rapids Notes: The Griffins have lost three straight and four of their last five. With his goal and assist on Wednesday night, Kip Miller now has 16 goals and 29 assists in 45 games to and leads the Griffins with 45 points. With goaltender Jimmy Howard out with an injury, Stefan Liv got the nod in net for the Griffins on Wednesday. The rookie netminder made 25 saves, but could not garner a victory, as he fell to 7-10-1 on the year.
Next Game: The Amerks travel to Binghamton to take on the Senators at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena on Saturday night in their last game before the 2007 AHL All-Star break. The meeting will be the seventh of the eight scheduled this season. The 7:05 p.m. contest will be broadcast live on Hot Talk 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and B2 Networks.
