Chicago Wolves defenseman NATHAN OYSTRICK (OY-strihk) has been named to the Canadian All-Star Team in the 2007 Rbk Hockey AHL All-Star Classic, which will take place at the Ricoh Coliseum in Toronto on Jan. 28 and 29.

The 24-year-old rookie, who joins teammates BRETT STERLING and DARREN HAYDAR in the contest, was one of three players added to the All-Star roster to replace those currently on loan to the National Hockey League, the AHL announced today. HAYDAR, the AHL's leading scorer, will start for the Canadian All-Star Team while STERLING will be in the starting lineup for the PlanetUSA squad.

OYSTRICK ranks second among AHL defensemen and paces league rookie blueliners with 30 points in 47 outings this season. He shares second among league defenseman and paces AHL first-year blueliners with nine goals, tied for the most by a rookie defenseman in franchise history.

The Regina, Saskatchewan, native has potted seven of his goals on the power play, which is tied for second among AHL defensemen. He also ranks third on the Wolves with 69 penalty minutes and shares sixth with a +12 plus/minus rating.

The Atlanta Thrashers' seventh-round pick (198th overall) in the 2002 National Hockey League Entry Draft, OYSTRICK made his professional debut late last season with the Wolves, notching one assist and four penalty minutes in two matchups.

Prior to turning pro, he collected 89 points (26G, 63A) and 269 penalty minutes in 151 games spanning four seasons with Northern Michigan University (2002-2006), which includes being named to the Central Collegiate Hockey Association First All-Star Team in both his junior and senior years.

HAYDAR, STERLING and OYSTRICK help kick off the annual event during the 2007 CCM AHL All-Star Skills Competition on Sun., Jan. 28 at 6 p.m., before the 2007 AHL All-Star Game takes place on Mon., Jan. 29 at 6 p.m., which will be televised live on Comcast SportsNet in Chicago.
