San Antonio Rampage News Release
SAN ANTONIO - Pascal Rheaume and Yanick Lehoux each tallied a two-point night helping the Rampage register three goals but the West Division's 4th ranked Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights collected a 5-3 win Monday night at the AT&T Center. Rheaume recorded two of the three Rampage goals as the Knights outshot the Rampage 42-25.
Chris McAllister racked up 27 penalty minutes just three minutes into regulation for instigating, fighting and two misconducts including a game misconduct that knocked him out of the rest of the game. The Rampage battled through seven minutes of penalty kill as Rheaume scored a short-handed unassisted, breakaway goal 52 seconds after Omaha scored a power-play goal at the 6:22 mark in the opening period.
Omaha regained the lead with less than two minutes left in the first period as Brandon Prust slipped one past Rampage goaltender David LeNeveu.
As the Rampage had some unlucky bounces, the Knights took advantage of a loose puck to extend their lead to 3-1. Derek Couture knocked in a loose shot from Prust that was deflected off of LeNeveu at 13:49 in the second period.
The Rampage came back in the third period focused and tried to start a quick rally as Rheaume converted a one-timer shot from Lehoux's centering feed for a power-play goal just 15 seconds into the closing period. Joel Perrault was credited with an assist for his second point in as many games since joining the Rampage on the NHL's Thursday trade deadline.
Trying to press too much, the Rampage gave three penalties within a three-minute span allowing the Knights to extended their 3-2 lead with a pair of goals, including a power-play goal. With less than three minutes left in regulation Lehoux fought back with another Rampage goal to bring San Antonio within two goals as Brad Tiley and David Cornacchia collected assists on Lehoux's 12th goal of the season.
The Rampage (19-38-2-4) play the Knights again Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at the AT&T Center.
