Cleveland Barons News Release
Flashback
3/10/2006 Cleveland 3, Milwaukee 6
Darren Haydar scored twice and added an assist leading the Milwaukee Admirals to a 6-3 win over the Barons on Friday night. The Admirals drew first blood with a goal from Haydar at the 6:17 mark. The Admirals extended their lead on another score from Haydar, his 24th of the year, on the power play with assists from Simon Gamache and Greg Classen. The teams combined for 30 minutes in penalties, but only four combined power play chances. Milwaukee extended their lead in the second period on Chris Durno's 15th goal of the year. The Barons answered with a rebound tally form their leading scorer, Josh Hennessy. The second period comeback came up short for the Barons as Milwaukee answered with another goal at the 14:22 mark. The teams combined for four goals in the first 4:26 of the third period, but Cleveland couldn't trim the Milwaukee lead, falling 6-3 at the Bradley Center. Paul Brown's 1st of the year from Milwaukee began the barrage just 48-seconds into the final frame. The Barons would answer with back to back tallies. Shane Joseph completed a great pass play from Lukas Kaspar for a power play goal at the 2:29 mark. Eighty-one seconds later the Barons would strike again as Tomas Plihal scored on a short-handed breakaway. However, on that same power play chance, Milwaukee would score to take a 6-3 lead and complete the night's scoring.
3/11/2006 Cleveland 0, Omaha 5
A 28-save performance from Omaha's Curtis McElhinney led the Ak-Sar-Ben Knights to a 5-0 win over the Barons on Saturday night. Omaha scored the only two goals of the period for a 2-0 advantage through twenty minutes of action. With a deflection goal Warren Peters tallied the game's opening score 4:26 into the game. A little over nine minutes later, Ajay Barnes converted a breakaway for his seventh goal of the year to complete the period's scoring. Omaha scored two more unanswered goals in the second period, leading to a 4-0 score after forty minutes of play. Carsen Germyn blasted home a power play one-time slap shot for his 22nd at the 6:14 mark. The Knights added another when Brandon Prust tucked home his 8th goal of the season. Adding insurance to the game's outcome was a short-handed penalty shot goal from Craig MacDonald.
3/12/2006 Cleveland 1, Peoria 4
Reed Low and Gavin Morgan each tallied a goal and an assist to lead Peoria to a 4-1 win over the Barons on Sunday night. Seventeen shots on goal was not enough for the Barons, who trailed 1-0 following twenty minutes of play. Peoria's goal came from Jon DiSalvatore, his 11th of the year. Three unanswered goals from Peoria put the game away as the Rivermen led 4-0 through forty minutes of action. Low scored his second goal in as many games to extend the lead to 2-0. A little over four minutes later, Cam Keith registered a short-handed goal for the three goal advantage before Morgan deposited a power play goal for the period's final tally. The Barons foiled Reinhard Divis' quest for a shutout as Riley Armstrong scored his third goal of the season with 18-seconds to go in the game. Matt Carkner earned the only assists on the Armstrong goal.
