HAMILTON, ON - Six different Hamilton skaters scored for the Bulldogs, who defeated the Barons 7-1 on Wednesday night at Copps Coliseum. Josh Hennessy scored his team leading 24th goal of the season in the losing effort for Cleveland.
A lackluster first period performance hurt the Barons as they surrendered the game's opening four goals in the first twenty minutes of play. Andrei Kostitsyn tallied his 16th of the season at even strength and JJ Hunter added a short-handed goal, which came just 77-seconds into the game. The goal by Hunter was Hamilton's fourth short-handed goal against the Barons in the season series. Corey Locke, Hamilton's leading scorer registered three assists in the period.
The Barons comeback bid was upended by two second period goals from Hamilton. Just 28-seconds apart Francis Lemieux and JF Jacques scored for the Bulldogs to extend their lead to five goals. Josh Hennessy had given the Barons hope with his 24th goal of the season coming on a power play just 46-seconds into the period.
Hamilton closed out the night with Kyle Chipchura scoring his first professional goal on a breakaway with a little more than five minutes remaining. The Barons finished the night with 27 shots to Hamilton's 34.
