Manchester Monarchs News Release
MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, have donated $1,000 scholarships to Monadnock Middle/High School to purchase an assortment of educational materials for a Multiplying Movement program and to Pennichuck Middle School to acquire a new batting cage for both the baseball and softball teams as part of their Investing In Our Youth grant program, the team announced on Wednesday.
Through the program, the Monarchs Care Foundation, the charitable arm of the Monarchs, is able to award two different $1,000 scholarships each month. One of the scholarships goes to a deserving youth sports team. The other scholarship goes to a deserving school organization.
The Monarchs are currently taking applications for the program. Athletic and educational organizations are encouraged to apply. For an Investing In Our Youth grant application, visit www.monarchshockey.com and click on "In The Community" or contact Cheryl Abbott, the Monarchs Vice President of Public Affairs at (603) 626-7825, extension 6102.
Monadnock Middle and High School will use the grant money to purchase speed stacking cups, a training video and stack mats, assorted juggling materials, a variety of balls, cubes and hoops for their Multiplying Movement classroom program. In addition, they will also purchase a stopwatch, pedometers (with leashes) and marking cones. These educational tools will help the students build hand-eye coordination and develop gross motor skills while promoting fun and physical education.
Pennichuck Middle School will purchase a new batting cage for both their baseball and softball teams. The new batting cage will allow practices to run more efficiently and effectively. The batting cage will also provide safety for over 130 plus spring athletes.
