
Barons add two defensemen

CLEVELAND - Cleveland Barons General Manager Wayne Thomas announced today that the club has made two transactions. Defenseman Chris Heid has been assigned by the Minnesota Wild to the Cleveland Barons from the Houston Aeros and defenseman John Adams has been loaned to the Barons from the Grand Rapids Griffins.
Heid has appeared in 4 games this season with the Houston Aeros, earning one assist and 14 penalty minutes. He has also recorded 20 points (4-16-20) and 69 penalty minutes in 50 games in Pensacola (ECHL) this season. The third year professional earned five assists in 19 games with Houston and eight points (2-6-8) in 17 games in Pensacola last season.
The six-foot-two, 205-pound native of Langley, B.C. was drafted in the third round, 74th overall, by Minnesota in the 2001 NHL entry draft.
Adams has skated in 10 AHL games this season, between the Griffins and the Springfield Falcons, going scoreless with six penalty minutes. The native of Wayzata, Minnesota has recorded 15 points (1-14-15) in 37 games with the Florida Everblades of the ECHL. Prior to turning pro, Adams completed a four-year career at Boston College with 29 points in 136 games.
The six-foot-two, 193-pound Adams was drafted by Buffalo in the third round (82nd overall) of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
The Barons will return to National City Rink located in The Q on Thursday, March 23rd against the Grand Rapids Griffins at 7:05pm.
