LAST WEEK'S HIGHLIGHTS

Vs. Binghamton (3/10): Left wing Petr Kanko scored with 12-seconds remaining in overtime to lift the Manchester Monarchs over the Binghamton Senators, 3-2, at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Friday night. Center Connor James and defenseman Marty Wilford scored to give the Monarchs a 2-0 lead but left wing Denis Hamel and center Charlie Stephens scored to even the game and push overtime. Goaltender Barry Brust collected his 17th win of the season with 28 saves for the Monarchs. Senators goaltender Jeff Glass finished the evening with 24 saves. Manchester went 2-for-8 on the power play. Binghamton was 1-for-5 with the man advantage.

Vs. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (3/11): Goaltender Andy Chiodo blanked the Manchester Monarchs for his first shutout of the season in the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins 2-0 victory at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Saturday night. Right wing Jonathan Filewich scored on his own rebound at 3:07 of the second period and center Krystofer Kolanos collected an empty net goal for the Penguins. Monarchs goaltender Barry Brust took the loss with 27 saves. Chiodo stopped all 27 shots he faced for the win. Manchester went 0-for-5 on the power play. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton was 0-for-4 with the man advantage.

MONARCHS TRANSACTIONS

3/13/06 - The Manchester Monarchs (AHL) loaned right wing Brad Smyth to the Hartford Wolf Pack (AHL) in exchange for defenseman Joe Rullier.

3/13/06 - The Manchester Monarchs (AHL) loaned forward Brendan Bernakevitch to the Houston Aeros (AHL) in exchange for right wing Alexandre Daigle.

3/11/06 - The Manchester Monarchs (AHL) recalled left wing Dany Roussin from the Reading Royals (ECHL).

3/10/06 - The Manchester Monarchs (AHL) released center Jon Francisco from his professional tryout agreement.

3/9/06 - The Los Angeles Kings (NHL) acquired right wing Tim Jackman from the Phoenix Coyotes (NHL) in exchange for center Yanick Lehoux.

3/8/06 - The Los Angeles Kings (NHL) acquired right wing Mark Parrish and defenseman Brent Sopel from the New York Islanders (NHL) in exchange for defenseman Denis Grebeshkov, left wing Jeff Tambellini and a conditional third-round pick in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

MONARCHS NEWS & NOTES

The Manchester Monarchs (36-22-2-4, 78 points) are in third place in the Atlantic Division behind the Hartford Wolf Pack (37-19-2-6, 82 points) and the Portland Pirates (40-16-5-3, 88 points).

The club has sent 21 out of their 64 games into overtime and/or a shootout this season, winning 15 out of those 20 games.

Manchester is 9-4 in shootouts and 6-2 in overtime games this season.

The Monarchs were undefeated (4-0-0-0) on Sundays at home during the 2005-06 regular season.

Manchester is undefeated (12-0-0-0) when they score five or more goals.

When the Monarchs score only two goals, the team is 0-8-0-0 on the road and 1-11-0-1 overall.

Defenseman Richard Petiot is tied for sixth among AHL rookies and seventh among defensemen with a plus/minus of plus-14.

Defenseman Marty Wilford leads Monarchs blueliners and is fifth on the team in scoring with 33 points (5-28=33). The veteran's 28 assists rank second on the team behind Smyth.

Right wing Petr Kanko is tied for fifth place in the AHL with three shorthanded goals on the season.

Goaltender Adam Hauser is tied for 13th place among AHL goaltenders with 17 wins and tied for 11th in the league with a 0.913 save-percentage.

The 6-foot-2, 194-pound native of Bovey, Minnesota, leads the league with a shootout record of 6-2.

Goaltender Barry Brust is ranked fifth in the AHL with a 0.920 save-percentage and is tied for eighth place with a 2.55 goals-against-average.

The 6-foot-2, 216-pound rookie from Swan River, Manitoba, is tied with Hauser for 13th place in the league among goaltenders with 17 wins.
