Plates Fight Back, Top Bisons, 7-4

The Rochester Plates took down the Buffalo Bisons, 7-4, thanks to a grand slam and five-RBI night from LF Travis Blankenhorn. Despite getting outhit by the Bisons, the Plates stormed back from an early 3-0 deficit, piling on five runs in the sixth and seventh innings to take a 2-1 series lead.

Buffalo took the lead in the top of the third inning, striking first when DH Addison Barger ripped a two-RBI double to left field. SS Rafael Lantigua extended the Bisons' lead to 3-0, driving in Barger on an RBI single. Buffalo held the advantage until LF Travis Blankenhorn launched a 455-foot grand slam to put the Plates ahead 4-3. The long ball was Blankenhorn's team-leading 12th blast of the year and stands as the furthest home run by Rochester this season.

The Bisons struck back in the top of the seventh inning, tying the game at 4-4 on an RBI single from Lantigua. Blankenhorn retook the lead for Rochester in the bottom half of the inning with a two out RBI double. CF Erick Mejia provided a pair of insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth inning, smashing his first left-handed home run of the season (second overall) to give the Plates a 7-4 lead. RHP Gerson Moreno logged his third straight save in the ninth to give Rochester the win.

LHP Anthony Banda started Thursday night for Rochester, tossing 5.0 innings while allowing three earned on ten hits while striking out a pair. RHP Andres Machado *relieved Banda, allowing one run in 1.1 innings of work. RHP *Tyler Danish* (2-2, 3.90) worked 1.2 innings to earn the win, striking out one while allowing a pair of hits. RHP *Gerson Moreno** wrapped up the Bisons in an inning of relief to earn the save.

LF Travis Blankenhorn earned Diamond Pro Player of the Game honors Thursday night, launching a 455-foot grand slam as part of a 2-for-4 night that also included an RBI double. Blankenhorn has now collected a career-long five consecutive multi-hit performances, hitting an extra base hit in four of those games.

The Wings return to action Friday night for the fourth game of the six-game homestand against the Bisons. RHP Luis Cessa gets the nod for Rochester, making his Red Wings debut, while Buffalo will send RHP Wes Parsons to the mound. First pitch is set for 6:45 p.m.
