Pair in the Third Pushes Hitmen past Tigers

November 13, 2021 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Calgary Hitmen News Release

Sophomore forward Zac Funk snapped a 2-2 tie early in the third period to propel the Calgary Hitmen to a 4-2 victory over the Medicine Hat Tigers on Saturday night at Co-op Place.

Any thoughts of a Medicine Hat comeback were erased when Anaheim Ducks prospect Sean Tschigerl scored shorthanded, netting his sixth marker of the season with less than four minutes remaining.

Jackson van de Leest and Tristan Zandee supplied other goals for the Hitmen, both in the first period, while Brayden Peters made 29 saves to pick up the win.

Ashton Ferster and Oasiz Wiesblatt counted the Medicine Hat markers on a night where they outshot the visitors 31-28.

With the victory Calgary improves to 6-7 while the Tigers drop to 4-7-2-1.

The Hitmen return home to host the Tigers at Scotiabank Saddledome in the rematch tomorrow, Sunday, Nov. 14. Game time is 4:00 p.m. in another Sunday Funday at the 'Dome featuring "Farley's Family Feast" with special $2 prices for cotton candy, water, pop, hot dogs and popcorn. There are also select $5 menu items as well.

It's then back on the road for Calgary next weekend for a pair of games with stops in Red Deer (Nov. 19) and Edmonton (Nov. 21).
