Americans Shut out by Silvertips

Kennewick, Wash. - The Americans were beaten 6-0 by the Everett Silvertips Friday night at Angel of the Winds Arena.

Nick Avakyan once again played in net for the Americans after getting his first start last weekend against Seattle. The 17-year-old goaltender stopped 39 of 45 shots faced tonight. On the other end of the ice, Koen MacInnes stopped all 14 shots from the Americans to record his second shutout victory of the season.

Niko Huuhtanen opened scoring tonight for the Silvertips seven minutes into the game. It was the Finnish forward's first goal in the Western Hockey League. Ben Hemmerling added another goal to give Everett a 2-0 lead after the first period.

The game slipped away in the second period as Everett extended their lead to 5-0 with goals from Jackson Berezowski, Alex Swetlikoff, and Ronan Seeley. They went on to add one final goal from Beau Courtney in the third period take a final victory of 6-0.

Everett out shot the Americans 45-14.

The Ams are back in action tomorrow as they return to the Toyota Center to take on the Portland Winterhawks. Single game tickets can be purchased at the Toyota Center Box Office or online from Ticketmaster.
